iPass Mobile Network grows to over 580,000 Wi-Fi hotspots globally
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – September 6, 2011 — iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), a leading provider of mobility services for both enterprises and service providers, today announced that it has expanded the iPass Mobile Network in South Korea through its partnership with SK Telecom, the leading wireless telecom operator in South Korea. With the addition of 51,000 Wi-Fi hotspots, enterprise mobile employees and roaming service provider partners now have access to more than 580,000 Wi-Fi venues worldwide.
“South Korea has long been a leader when it comes to mobile broadband,” said SK Telecom’s Senior Vice President and Head of Customer Marketing Office, Kim Sun Jung. “SK Telecom made the decision to extend our Wi-Fi services, and the addition of 51,000 hotspots is a direct outcome of that effort. We will continue to evolve our wireless network by boosting our network capacity and deploying more Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.”
“SK Telecom is one of the most innovative mobile service providers in the world and South Korea is an important market for business travelers to connect at airports, hotels, convention centers, restaurants and office locations,” said Marcio Avillez, vice president of Network Services at iPass. “Through our established SK Telecom partnership we are now able to offer iPass enterprise customers greater Wi-Fi access via smartphones, tablets and laptops for mobile employees who are roaming.”
