iPass Expands Network Footprint by Nearly 50% To 2.2 Million Hotspots

Reach Extends across 120 Countries” and Territories and Millions of Community Hotspots around the Globe

REDWOOD SHORES, CA., February 12, 2014: iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), a leading provider of mobile services for enterprises and telecom service providers, today announced that it has grown its global Wi-Fi network by nearly 50% in Q4 2013, from 1,490,000 to 2,190,000 hotspots, more than twice the size of the nearest competitor. The iPass Mobile Network currently covers 120 countries” and territories as well as millions of other community hotspots across the world.

“Business travelers need to stay connected and productive on increasingly faster networks wherever they are,” said iPass’ Marcio Avillez, VP of network services. “In order to keep pace with an increasing demand for connectivity, we have grown our network from approximately 100,000 hotspots in 2008 to 2.2 million today. We have also grown our footprint in the US nearly 250% since last quarter, recognizing that the USA is one of the top countries for global inbound travel. Wi-Fi is the preferred connectivity option for billions of users and devices across the globe, and we feel uniquely positioned to take advantage of the exploding demand. We look forward to expanding our reach even further in 2014.”

iPass provides Wi-Fi coverage to 95% of the world’s top 100 airports (as measured by passenger volume). In addition, iPass subscribers can access in-flight Wi-Fi services on many global airline carriers- iPass is available on 2,000 aircraft representing over 6,000 domestic flights per day. iPass enabled mobile workers can access the iPass network on domestic airlines including American Airlines, Delta, United, US Airways, and Alaska Air among others. Internationally, iPass subscribers can access Wi-Fi services options on Lufthansa, Etihad, Aer Lingus and American Airlines.

Over 150 Wi-Fi network operators are connected to the iPass global network. iPass has over 72,446 hotspots in hotel and convention centers worldwide and provides seamless access to premium Wi-Fi services at many  hotel hotspots including access at select Hilton, Sheraton, Crowne Plaza, Hyatt and Marriott properties. Other business venues offering access to the iPass Mobile Network include Starbucks and McDonald’s. iPass subscribers can access hundreds of different networks and more than 2.2 million hotspots using a single, secure login based on the user’s existing corporate credentials.
