Integration brings enterprises simplified access to 20 million Wi-Fi hotspots globally
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Aug 4, 2015: iPass Inc (NASDAQ: IPAS), the world’s largest commercial Wi-Fi network, today announced that it now supports single sign-on with three leading identity management platforms: Okta, OneLogin and Ping Identity. With single sign-on capability, business users can securely self-provision themselves to use the iPass global Wi-Fi network using a simplified one-click activation process, reducing challenges associated with lost or changing passwords while bolstering enterprise security.
Distributed workforces and mobile devices are disrupting business as usual – especially when it comes to identity management. With business users connecting to enterprise services from multiple locations and devices, pressure on IT to address a myriad of access and security issues grows. Meanwhile, mobile users expect simplicity. Mobile enterprise apps must be as easy and accessible as their consumer counterparts. Typing passwords into smartphones is difficult; remembering a long list of unrelated usernames and passwords makes these even more challenging.
“We’re making it easy for our millions of users to securely access the applications, devices and services they need to get work done from anywhere, at any time,” said Chuck Fontana, head of technology alliances at Okta, which earlier this year Gartner Inc. named the sole leader in its Magic Quadrant for Identity and Access Management as a Service (IDaaS). “Collaboration is key for many of these users, and our integration with iPass will enable both of us to provide businesses with an integrated solution that extends enterprise security and increases employee productivity, while also lowering IT costs and improving compliance on mobile devices.”
By enabling global enterprise users of leading services like Okta, Onelogin and Ping Identity to use single sign-on to access the iPass global Wi-Fi network of over 20 million global hotspots, iPass is removing yet another barrier to seamless connectivity.
“We take partnering seriously. Because of where we sit at the intersection of security, mobility and cloud apps, we have many crucial integration points to assist our partners in helping joint prospects and customers navigate identity management,” said Josh Greene, vice president of sales and business development at OneLogin, who was recently recognized by Forrester Research as the top leader in B2E Cloud Identity and Access Management. “With the addition of iPass integration, business users will stay more productive with easy, continuous access to Wi-Fi without management of yet another set of credentials.”
In a study from the Ponemon Institute, 69 percent of consumers reported that they had forgotten a password because it was too long or complex. Multiply that across both personal and enterprise systems, and businesses are faced with the task of managing credentials with an ever-changing workforce. With single sign-on, enterprises avoid frequent password challenges since users are not forced to enter a new set of credentials every time they log in. This also reduces the amount of time IT spends on fielding helpdesk requests for password resets and simplifies onboarding processes.
“The borderless digital world, propelled by the shift toward cloud and mobile, has rendered traditional security solutions less relevant and effective,” said Mike Kane, director of business development at Ping Identity. “Ping’s mission is to put identity at the center of security, and provide fluid and trusted access to mission critical applications. iPass customers using our Identity Defined Security platform can now access the iPass global Wi-Fi seamlessly and securely, ensuring productivity from any device and any location."
“Our mission is to make connectivity seamless and invisible for enterprise users. By adding single sign-on capability with leading identity management providers, we’re simplifying yet another step in the process toward ubiquitous Wi-Fi connectivity,” said Patricia Hume, Chief Commercial Officer at iPass. “Global enterprises can rest assured that iPass fits within their wider identity and access management policies that incorporate Okta, Onelogin and Ping Identity.”
