Fixed Broadband Management

Delivering enterprise-grade fixed broadband presents numerous challenges. Historically, customers have been forced to grapple with an assortment of cable and DSL providers, as well as coverage and logistics issues for provisioning, ensuring service quality, service monitoring, troubleshooting and billing.

iPass has applied its expertise, processes and management techniques from its global virtual network for mobility to significantly automate the delivery of fixed broadband services.

  • Ordering. Customers don't need to worry about arranging cable or DSL service with tens or even hundreds of separate providers to cover all of their branch offices, retail offices or home-based users. iPass handles all the details including pre-qualification of service availability.
  • Provisioning. With Branch Office and Retail Office services, iPass oversees a professional installation on the customer's premises. Preconfigured hardware is delivered to our expert installers, who then install the equipment, work with iPass NOC personnel to test proper operation and begin service monitoring. With the Home Office service, the Wi-Fi router comes preconfigured with a company's SSID and security policies. Users follow an easy-to-understand instruction card to install and test the device.
  • Monitoring and Management. iPass' Remote Data Collector proactively monitors remote Branch Office and Retail Office networks to ensure cable or DSL availability, VPN tunnel activity and network performance, including network latency and packet loss. The Remote Data Collector is installed at each customer's head-end VPN site to probe over the actual VPN tunnels. This allows iPass to understand exactly how the network is performing from the same perspective as the customer's applications.

If any monitored parameters fall outside of predetermined thresholds, the Remote Data Collector automatically opens a trouble ticket and iPass NOC personnel immediately begin working on resolving the issue.

For Home Office services, iPass manages the network availability and the Wi-Fi router and configuration at the home locations.
