The iPass RoamServer™ software requires installation on a Windows or UNIX platform. Firewalls or authentication servers can run on this platform concurrently.

The iPass RoamServer software requires installation on a Windows or UNIX platform. Firewalls or authentication servers can run on this platform concurrently. Basic platform requirements include:
Connectivity to an authentication server
Accounting server (optional)
Internet-accessible server
Installation on a Windows Server
System Requirements
Pentium II processor or higher
110 MB temporary disk space
70 MB permanent disk space
20 MB memory for running the service
Server must have a static IP address (no DHCP)
If the server is behind a firewall, an accessible NAT IP address
Installer must have administrative privileges on the machine
Additional Requirements
Connectivity to an authentication database
Connectivity to an accounting server to allow accounting logs to be written to an alternate location (optional)
The TCP/IP protocol is required to support the SSL-encrypted connection from the iPass Transaction Centers
Available Platforms
iPass RoamServer 5.05 software has been successfully tested on the following Microsoft Windows platforms:
A Linux host needs at least 20 threads of 30 MB each and 600 MB swap space
Additional Requirements
Connectivity to an authentication database
The TCP/IP protocol is required to support the SSL-encrypted connection from the iPass Transaction Centers
If placed behind a firewall, the firewall must not block inbound connections to TCP port 577, or any other agreed-upon port. The firewall must not block outbound connections to the iPass Transaction Centers.
Connectivity to an accounting server to allow accounting logs to be written to an alternate location (optional)
Available Platforms
iPass RoamServer 5 software has been successfully tested on the following UNIX platforms:
Solaris 9, 8 and 7 (SPARC architecture processor)
RedHat 7.3 (Kernel 2.4.18) with the Server Package.
RedHat 6.2 (Kernel 2.4.14) and 6.1 (Kernel 2.2.12) with the Workstation Package or Developer's Package installed.
Note:RedHat Linux 8.0, 9.0 and higher haven't been tested or certified by the iPass quality assurance team yet. However, there are no known issues with these versions at this time.
iPassConnect Mobility Manager Requirements
iPassConnect is installed on end users' notebook PCs and handheld devices. iPass provides several client device options. The system requirements for each are listed below.
Microsoft Windows Vista, XP and 2000
To support iPassConnect 3.60 for Windows, your notebook PC must meet these minimum requirements:

16-bit color mode
One or more connectivity devices installed, depending on your connection type:
A supported WLAN adapter for a WLAN connection. (any NDIS v5.1 compliant 802.11b or 802.11g Wi-Fi device)
A supported Mobile Data card for a Mobile Data connection. (A complete list of supported Mobile Data cards can be found in the Mobile Data Configuration Guide, available from the iPass Portal.)
Ethernet adapter for wired broadband connections
GSM modem or data card for GSM connections
ISDN terminal adapter for ISDN connections
PHS phone or data card for PHS connections
56K v90/92 modem for dial-up connections
Operating System Requirements
Windows Vista (32-bit Business, Enterprise and Ultimate)
Windows XP Home or Professional Edition (SP 1 or SP 2)
Windows 2000 (SP 4 or later)
Additional Requirements
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 SP 1 or later
iPass also recommends that you install all critical Windows updates (and preferably all Microsoft-recommended updates) for your operating system.
