In the fourth quarter report we looked at smartphone preferences and work habits of mobile users around the world. Surprisingly, we found only minor differences between the various age groups. We also evaluated how personal liability versus corporate liability influenced the habits and behaviors of the mobile workforce, and found it played a much bigger factor on device usage than age.

The third quarter’s iPass Mobile Workforce survey revealed that 5.5 percent of employees used their mobile phone/smartphones exclusively for work and only 3 percent used them only for personal communications. Most employees used them for a combination of both. Also, 7.1 percent of mobile employees carried two separate phones – one for just work and one for personal use.

To better understand the trends shaping inflight Wi-Fi usage in 2010, iPass conducted a survey of over 2,400 mobile employees who rely on the iPass Mobile Network service for their connectivity needs. Respondents were asked about their experiences using Wi-Fi on commercial flights and the devices they prefer to use.
