iPass Equips Luxury Smartphones with Complimentary Wi-Fi Access to its Network of More Than 15 Million Hotspots Worldwide

Luxury Smartphone Manufacturer, Vertu, adds Customer Value with Global Wi-Fi

REDWOOD SHORES, CA., 27 January, 2015 – iPass® Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), the world’s largest commercial Wi-Fi network, announced today that customers of Vertu, the world’s foremost manufacturer of luxury communications devices, will have automatic access to the iPass network of 15 million hotspots, including access on many Wi-Fi equipped airplanes.

The service will be available on Vertu’s latest smartphones, the Vertu Aster and Signature Touch. These luxury handsets are handmade by a single craftsman at the company’s headquarters in Hampshire, England, using fine leathers, engineered titanium chassis and solid sapphire crystal screens.

“With iPass, Vertu owners now have complimentary access to the world’s largest commercial Wi-Fi network. They don’t have to go through the hassle of inputting usernames and passwords or getting out their credit card at different Wi-Fi venues. Instead, through iPass, they are automatically connected to more than 15 million hotspots—without any data caps or bandwidth throttling,” said Evan Kaplan, President and Chief Executive Officer of iPass. “Even on the most advanced handsets the vast majority of data goes over Wi-Fi according to a recent report by Informa. Indeed, our own research has shown that users will opt for Wi-Fi whenever they have a choice. So for any device brand, especially one at the luxury end of the market, providing Wi-Fi access across the globe is critical.”

“Vertu customers frequently travel internationally for business and pleasure. The ability for them to connect effortlessly to the extensive iPass network of Wi-Fi venues is an invaluable asset. We also like the fact that our customers can connect to inflight Wi-Fi when travelling around the world,” said Massimiliano Pogliani, Chief Executive Officer of Vertu.

Complimentary access to the iPass global Wi-Fi network is available on Vertu’s latest smartphones, Aster and Signature Touch, for 6 and 12 months, respectively.
