iPass and Intel formalized a multi-year agreement in 2002 to improve the wireless experience on future notebook PCs through advancing ease of use and more secure wireless connectivity to the Internet. Under the agreement, the first phase of the collaboration focuses on enabling simple and predictable wireless connectivity on notebook PCs based on Intel's forthcoming Centrino mobile technology.
iPass and Intel will validate the interoperability between future releases of the iPassConnect™ client and Intel Centrino mobile technology-based notebooks with the Intel WLAN Network Interface Card. PC manufacturers, IT departments and mobile end users alike will benefit from a common, simple interface for dial-up, wired and public wireless access worldwide.
