iPass Mobile Data Service:
Go and the Network Will Follow

Sending Users All the Right Signals

By integrating mobile data connectivity into the iPassConnect. 3 universal client, remote and mobile users gain national coverage combined with a number of beneficial features:

  • Single interface for all connections
With the iPassConnect universal client, provided to all iPass Corporate Access customers, users get a single, unified connection experience-from dial to Wi-Fi to mobile data. In addition to improved end-user productivity, companies benefit from reduced training costs, as users don't have to learn how to use a new interface to make mobile data connections and help desk staff don't have to learn how to support a new interface.

  • photoAutomatic detection and configuration
Whenever a user launches their iPassConnect universal client, it automatically detects available 1xRTT and EVDO mobile data networks. The interface displays the detected networks and their relative quality through a signal strength meter. When the user selects a network, iPassConnect automatically configures the user's card with the appropriate settings for that particular network, making the whole process seamless for the end user.

  • Orchestrating policy enforcement
Customers can combine the iPass Mobile Data service with iPass' Universal Policy Enforcement solution to extend protection of mobile endpoint systems and restrict VPN usage to approved and compliant mobile systems. This mitigates the risk of an endpoint device being compromised and then infecting the corporate network. The iPassConnect universal client enforces policies across all access methods and device types.

IT Calls the Shots

Users aren't the only ones benefiting from this integrated mobile data connectivity solution. IT managers gain control over this access method through several innovative features:

  • Painless provisioning – Once the customer has the cards in hand, the IT manager activates and assigns usernames to the cards using the provisioning tool on the iPass Portal.

  • Competitive pooled pricing – Pricing for the iPass Mobile Data service is competitive-with users sharing a common data pool. An innovation in the industry, this pricing plan allows a company to sign up for a flat price based on the total number of users who will be accessing the data pool. Averaging this usage results in overall lower financial risk.

  • A single bill – Having a single bill for all remote access connections reduces the hassles and costs associated with aggregating numerous bills from multiple providers. It also lets managers see at a glance who is using which services-and for how long.

  • Advanced reporting with iOQ – iPass customers already benefit from the iOQ® service that provides usage reporting for every user session, facilitating troubleshooting and helping chart usage trends. The Mobile Data service adds 1xRTT and EVDO session data to these helpful reports.

  • Enterprise Ready – iPass has pre-qualified the mobile data access providers and technologies used in the iPass Mobile Data service to ensure seamless operations with enterprise network environments. That way, companies are able to leverage their existing investments in hardware, applications, security software and management tools.

Many Connections, One Trusted Partner

iPass is already a global leader in remote access services over dial, GSM, PHS, Wi-Fi hotspot and broadband connections. So integration of new mobile data connectivity comes as no real surprise. Mobile data is a perfect match for the iPass promise of trusted mobility-anytime, anywhere. The service is a "no compromises" proposition for the corporation. Mobile employees working far away from a Wi-Fi hotspot or an available phone line can now get connected-on demand. Likewise, IT maintains control over access, security policies, billing and reporting functions.

The iPass Mobile Data service. It's one more way iPass is eliminating compromises for mobile users and IT administrators, while ensuring secure, trusted connections.

Share Data Not Overage Charges

Dewey, Bildem and Howe (DBH) is a large architecture firm, employing hundreds of architects, engineers and drafters. Because so much work is done on construction sites, mobile data communications are a must-have.

When DBH employees were on individual pricing plans, a good number of them consistently went over their monthly data allocation. And overage charges became a fixture on the mobile data bill.

Since switching to the iPass Mobile Data service, DBH shares a data pool across its user base. Overage charges are a thing of the past. With data allotments now pooled, those employees who don't need as much access balance out those who do need it.
