Network and provider redundancy
With increasing numbers of businesses adopting a mobility strategy, connection availability and reliability is more critical than ever for enterprise customers. For that reason, iPass has designed its provider network and operations centers to ensure resilience through redundancy at all critical points, avoiding a single point of failure. Steps taken to ensure continuous service availability include:

  • Multiple providers ensure redundant geographic coverage.
  • Numerous globally distributed iPass Transaction Centers feature both internal redundancy and sophisticated automatic fail-over capabilities to protect against regional disruptions. Each Transaction Center is also linked to the Internet via multiple Tier 1 providers.
  • iPass systems deployed at the customer's network edge enable users to connect through multiple redundant providers using various access technologies.

Increased handheld support
iPass has expanded its support for handheld devices, including Window Mobile 5 and Nokia Symbian-based handhelds and Smartphones:

  • Business users on Windows Mobile 5 devices have cellular coverage and easy access to Wi-Fi, including home wireless networks and campus WLANs.
  • Those on Nokia E series handsets can connect over cellular mobile data networks and higher-bandwidth Wi-Fi networks.
  • IT staff retain central control of all mobile devices through improvements in iPass Device Management (see sidebar).

photoIntroducing iPassConnect 1.5 for Nokia Symbian

The latest release of iPassConnect—version 1.5—extends the capabilities and benefits of the iPass Mobile Office service to Nokia E series handset users. iPassConnect 1.5 specifically supports Nokia E60, E61, E70 and N80 handsets, providing seamless Wi-Fi access to iPass and non-iPass networks. With Wi-Fi connectivity, Nokia E series users have fast, ubiquitous data access as well as voice over IP over Wi-Fi capabilities, which allow substantial savings for calls placed or received on campus or at home, where Wi-Fi connectivity is available at no additional charge.

Let iPass give you a hand
Given the prominent role handhelds now play in the enterprise and the business-critical nature of mobile communications, iPass encourages customers to choose devices and a provider that unifies the management of remote and mobile connectivity and devices, while ensuring trusted connections and availability.

100 percent uptime
(that's not a typo)

Since 2001, iPass' authentication fabric has delivered 100 percent uptime. Part of this success is attributable to the iPass Enterprise Ready program. The requirements of this program ensure providers become part of the iPass network only when they've met stringent iPass standards for service availability, connection quality and security solution interoperability. .
