Top smartphone lists – Weekly wrap-up

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Which smartphone will you chooseThis is a little early, to make sure to catch those that are leaving for holidays this weekend. There are many lists regarding smartphones, as they are now the “new laptop.” Here’s a list of what’s come out recently.

“Best smartphones” by CNET

“Top 10 Cell Phones” by PC World

“Here Are The Top 16 Smartphones on AT&T” by SF Gate
“AT&T easily has the largest variety of smartphones with offerings running Android, Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry 6 OS, and even Palm OS.”

“Android Smartphones Outrank iPhones in Top 30 Mobile Devices List” by Mashable
“At first, when devices are broken into categories based on operating system alone, Apple has the advantage. But when you take iPads and iPod touch devices out of the picture and you only consider smartphones’ share of the market, Android devices seem to come out on top.”

For those of you mobile workers that are personally-liable for the smartphone at work, “11 Great Smartphones for $50 or Less” by CIO.com

Don’t forget to tell us which one you expect to get (or have gotten already!) during the holidays, or any other mobile device in our less-than-a-minute poll.

Also, I give you Lifehacker’s most popular 2010 Top 10 lists by Lifehacker, including Top 10 USB Thumb Drive Tricks and Top 10 Uses for Wi-Fi (That Aren’t Just Connecting to the Internet). My #11 for that last list is: Use Wi-Fi to avoid those nasty 3G roaming charges.

Finally, I can’t wait for the end of next year when there will be a longer list of tablets, so that we can have a “Top 10″ list.
