Thank you Steve Jobs

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Steve Jobs was an extraordinary visionary, making technology so usable that a child can quickly grasp what to do.

What we’ve witnessed over the past few years has been the extraordinary trend of making mobile devices nearly indispensable and setting a bar so high for style and functionality, that other companies have struggled to achieve the same.

With that in mind, I came across a few articles worth sharing that focus on the mobile devices – that keep us in touch and up to date.

A Great User Experience: The Web Legacy of Steve Jobs, by Richard MacManus, ReadWriteWeb

In January 2007, Steve Jobs announced what was arguably his biggest triumph: the iPhone.

At the time, Jobs described the strange new product as “three revolutionary new products” all rolled up into one device. Part iPod, part phone and part “internet mobile communicator”. He boldly claimed that this new hybrid product, called an iPhone, would reinvent the phone. It would be “the Internet in your pocket for the first time ever.”

What Steve Jobs Understood That Our Politicians Don’t, by Matt Bai, NYTimes

Mr. Jobs understood, intuitively, that Americans were breaking away from the last era’s large institutions and centralized decision-making, that technology would free them from traditional workplaces and the limits of a physical marketplace….

At the same time, while Mr. Jobs saw a society moving inexorably toward individual choice, he also seemed to understand that such individuality breeds detachment and confusion.

Thank you.

Poor Steve Jobs. I didn’t know he had a cancer. Sending prayers for his family. It’s a pity he died at such young age.
