Stop, drop and backup! It’s World Backup Day
Thursday, March 31st, 2011 Karen Ambrose Hickey, EditorAt first, I was tempted to jump by this article. Then, I realized that backing-up your data is EXTREMELY wise for us mobile workers.
There’s nothing like being remote, or trying to get one thing done in between flights and you are almost done with that brilliant document and suddenly….yes, the blue screen of death (OK, you Mac users get something different, but you know what I mean).
Maybe that’s extreme, but I just had a laptop crash yesterday and lost an exceptional presentation that I was working on. My first G-1 Android died, and I lost all the data and pictures.
So. Get to work.
Rachel King at ZDNet, in her article, Time to celebrate World Backup Day 2011, gives you many options, from a flash drive to more automated, cloud-based services.
I have both personal and work-only external drives that I use to back-up data. And, because I’ve gotten more into photography, I’ve installed an additional server at home that does an auto-backup on all three home laptops. By syncing my iPad occasionally, I’m keeping that backed-up as well.
Spring into Spring with your data intact.
