Smartphone Pillow Talk InfographicIf you haven’t seen it yet, our “Smartphone Pillow Talk” infographic pretty much wraps up the state of the mobile worker. We seem to work more, sleep less, and stay more connected, even in down time.

Yes, we are more productive, but it is causing friction in our lives and has changed the rules of etiquette (future post!). 60% of mobile workers, age 22 to 34, keep their smartphone within arm’s reach in the bedroom, however, if you are 45 to 54, only 30% of you do. 39% of mobile workers wake at night to check their smartphones, with more mobile workers in Asia Pacific getting up in the night, and Europeans getting the most sleep.

I went back through the tweets that I saw about this diagram and the comment responses in our Mobile Workforce survey. Some quips from Twitter:

  • “Does your partner know you’re sleeping w/ your smartphone?”
  • “Guilty (35% of mobile workers check email before doing anything else in the morning)”
  • “Smartphone users work 10 extra days, sleep less and screw up relationships!”
  • “ugh i need to get off my tab”
  • “The 168 hour work week – I can so relate”
  • less than glamorous portrayal of mobile workers”

From our survey, about why do you get up to check your smartphone, we had additional answers, including “on call for work”, “expecting a call,” “Nature “calls”", or a child awakes (or a teenager is out – “need I say more?” was the comment).

And, finally, these quotes:

  • “Wake up to use it as a light. Then end up checking thru it on my way back to sleep.”
  • And for the even more creative:” because I had an idea and don’t want to lose it”
  • Or, believe it or not, due to “snoring” (there’s an app for that!)

And from Kim Kardashian: BIG news!!! This is so exciting!
Oops, that was for something else. Thought it was for the report.
