Skyfire on the iPhone – consumers saying what they want
Wednesday, November 10th, 2010 Karen Ambrose Hickey, EditorAll this furor about Skyfire on the iPhone, first made me think about our recently published “Mobile Employee Bill of Rights,” This discusses giving mobile workers the tools to use what they need to be productive.
Then, I was thinking that, hey, we are talking about videos on the web and how does that relate to the Enterprise? Then, I was reminded of two recent scenarios, as I’m responsible for our Video Center and many of the videos themselves:
1. I was recently on a personal trip, and had only taken my iPad. There was an issue with one of the videos that I had uploaded to our hosting service. I went to the vendor website to fix it. On my iPad. I could not figure out why I couldn’t see anything. Ah. Flash. I had to write a long email instructing a colleague on what to do.
2. Just this evening, I got an email from our training manager about putting up a video for our sales force on the intranet. Due to the objectives, I realized I need to use this hosting service. What if a sales rep wants to quickly watch this product update video on their iPhone or iPad? I guess that they wait until they connect with a laptop.
