iPass Unveils Secure Web Gateway – Powered by Cisco ScanSafe

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

Cisco Scan SafeToday, we announced a Secure Web Gateway (SWG) solution for the enterprise. This cloud-based Web Security Service controls unauthorized access to the web and protects customers from internet threats. This solution is for customers requiring ‘Zero Day’ threat protection, advanced web usage reporting and consistent enforcement of usage policy for all network endpoints.

Customers can manage all internet bound traffic from branch locations in an efficient and secure method by using this service powered by Cisco ScanSafe.

Enterprises have historically been constrained by sending all remote branch internet traffic back to corporate in order to centrally apply corporate security policies prior to sending that same traffic back out to the Internet.

As internet bandwidth demands continue to grow, corporations face significant bandwidth and infrastructure upgrades to process the internet-bound traffic at headquarters.

Secure Extend solves this problem in the cloud by allowing customers to transparently proxy this traffic for policy enforcement with zero capital expense and zero lead time.

Retailers, financial services, insurance firms or healthcare providers can now have great performance, reduce costs and securely access a variety of cloud-based services and enjoy an additional layer of security over their guest Wi-Fi network.

There was no doubt that partnering with Cisco was the right choice. Our customers don’t want to keep increasing corporate data center bandwidth to handle the explosion of affordable edge bandwidth. Secure Extend with ScanSafe offers a cost-effective highly available solution that allows enterprise business to maintain centralized control along with critical security policy enforcement.

The burden of managing a complex security infrastructure is growing day by day and freeing up IT resources to work on other projects while saving 30-40% is very compelling. With Secure Extend, your network is cloud ready.

Secure Extend can be architected for compatibility with both Cisco and non-Cisco VPN/firewall or routing devices. We offer dozens of flexible designs that include full or partial management as well as a deployment only option of your company’s unique security policies. Secure Extend integrates ScanSafe Web Security to analyze every Web request to determine if content is malicious, inappropriate or acceptable based on the defined security policy.

Secure Extend Web Security is available today.

Mobile Workforce Survey – open for your response

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

Our Mobile Workforce Survey is in full swing, but we want to hear from you!

By filling out the survey (which is shorter!), you will be entered for a chance to win a new iPad. Here’s what we see so far:

$20/€15/£13 is the most that you’ve spent for Wi-Fi access; usually at a hotel.

Other places that you might use Wi-Fi for business (that we did not have as a selection):

  • Customer site
  • Hospital (other medical services)
  • Library
  • …what else?

Almost 50% of you work away from the office 1-2 days per week.

And, at this point, you are more productive working from home, than working from the office (which is still pretty high).

Take a moment and fill out our survey to tell us about how you are using Wi-Fi to get your job done more productively. Thanks!
