Mobility is getting thinner at CES

Thin is in.

The first morning’s headlines reveals the new trends for 2012, and devices are more svelte than ever. Here’s a run-down, including a new refrigerator that will have you looking thin in 2012 as well!

Huawei Reveals the World’s Thinnest Smartphone
Huawei’s Android smartphone claims to be the world’s slimmest. Ascend P1 S, with a 4.3-inch, 540 x 960 Super AMOLED screen, a dual-core 1.5 GHz CPU paired with a SGX 540 GPU, an 8-megapixel camera and 1 GB of RAM, is in a case that’s only 6.68 mm thick. This is thinner than the 7.1 mm Motorola Droid Razr.

“Corning has officially announced Gorilla Glass 2… 20% thinner than its predecessor and will be featured on slimmer and sleeker devices, while producing brighter images, greater touch sensitivity, and the same toughness we all love.”

Toshiba Unveils the World’s Thinnest 10-inch Tablet
Toshiba introduced the Excite, a 10-inch Android tablet, that is 0.3-inch-thick and 1.2 lb.

Thin ultrabook computers may star at Consumer Electronics Show
“If 2011 was the year of the tablet, 2012 will be the year of the ultrabook. 30 to 40 will be introduced during the show.” Engadget reported that Intel announced that as many as 75 will be introduced during the year. However, James Kendrick of ZDNet says, “they are supposed to be thin” so what about the battery life, screen resolution, other “wow features” and price?
