Dictate the mobile device or let the user decide?
NetworkWorld is hosting a panel discussion on whether employees should be allowed to select the mobile devices that they connect to the corporate network. Take time to comment and vote your opinion!
As you can see, current results show that Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is ahead by a 2:1 margin.
The two opinions:
BYOD is a minefield, by Robert Rhodes, CIO of Houston Healthcare:
“…Without ground rules we will introduce excessive undue risk to everyone involved. In fact, we may also introduce cultural changes that neither employers or employees anticipate.”
Empower the user, by Evan Kaplan, CEO of iPass:
“…It’s a fool’s game to dictate what mobile devices your employees use, and one that requires more support in the end as the more you say “no” the less secure the organization becomes.”
Read the rest of the panel’s comments and make your own. And make sure to vote your opinion!
