IT looking for enterprise mobility cost controls
Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 Chris Witeck, Director Product Marketing

After visiting with some customers, I’m hearing some themes again and again:
- Roaming costs are big – particularly roaming internationally
- Many IT managers want to get control of this big cost lever first
- They want VISIBILITY into who spends what
- Want to stop 3G roaming abuse with reports at a department level
- iPhones are corporate devices with corporate access
- One customer didn’t allow personal devices, but had standardized on iPhones
- Smartphones are an individual’s liability
- IT worries about tracking mobility costs
- Once IT puts on connection management or any controls, is it then an IT-supported device?
- Blackberry Exchange Servers are expensive
- IT is moving to more cloud-based services and applications
- Not only can costs be controlled, but remote employees can have access quickly
- IT likes off-loading users to Wi-Fi when possible, with a connection manager doing this seamlessly and transparently
What people want:
- Simplicity of authentication
- Control over connections
- Centralized reporting
- Insight/visibility into usage/cost
- secure connections to sensitive data (mainly protecting credentials)
Are you there too? Let’s talk.
