iPass on iPad. Of course! Enterprise Mobility at the forefront
Monday, April 5th, 2010 Karen Ambrose Hickey, EditorToday, we announced that our enterprise Wi-Fi hotspot solution for the iPhone and iPod Touch will also support the new iPad. The iPad is part of our large list of devices that we support to enable enterprise mobility.
From our initial testing on multiple networks, we were able to get the iPass client app to download flawlessly from the Apple App Store. I used the existing iPassConnect 1.8 client.
The iPad itself is pretty impressive. I set up Exchange easily and it brought down my mail, calendar and contacts quickly. I sent an email after my first connection letting my colleagues know that all was well with iPass on the iPad!
In these first days, it seems that this will be a huge hit with the consumer market, and like the iPhone, will make it’s way into the Enterprise. Using iPass, users will still be able to connect to the world’s largest Wi-Fi network with their corporate credentials, while IT can easily manage profiles, configurations and billing, from a centralized portal.
