iPad in the EnterpriseHere’s a compilation and summary of some just-released articles of iPads in the Enterprise – enterprise adoption, security concerns and more.

 

iPad’s Enterprise Dream by VDC Research

The iPad is not a laptop, but in this survey, business executives are already thinking of enterprise mobility applications. 15% of those surveyed will deploy iPads in the enterprise, while 29% are considering them. The survey found that companies in industries with more mobile workers, means more probability of deployment. The article also pointed out another disadvantage which is the viewability of the screen in strong sunlight.

 

How to Secure the iPhone and iPad for the Enterprise – ReadWriteWeb-Enterprise

ReadWriteWeb covered the new Forrester report released yesterday titled “Apple’s iPhone And iPad: Secure Enough For Business?” The article details seven basic security policies every enterprise should implement:

  • Require email session encryption.
  • Wipe devices if they are lost or stolen.
  • Protect devices with a passcode lock.
  • Autolock devices after periods of inactivity.
  • Autowipe devices after failed unlock attempts.
  • Protect the configuration profile.
  • Continuously refresh policies.

These executives from companies like SAP and Salesforce.com give some scenarios on how they are using their own iPads.

 

AT&T: Enterprise loves the iPad – AllThingsD

AT&T says, “Right from the beginning with the iPad, we’ve had a number of our business customers express interest. A number of them have trials going on…. Businesses see the opportunity in many cases to use the iPad potentially in place of laptops for many of their people that travel.”

 

How are you using iPad for Business – ZDNet

ZDNet is starting to look at various workforce scenarios – sales, overnight business trips and “roaming” workers, meaning those not at a desk, but on the factory floor, package delivery truck, hospital floor, etc.
