CTIA, Good morning from Orlando!

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Well, it was a good morning for a few. The morning started with the Keynote round table of the Fab Four (US Carriers) hosted by Jim Cramer from Mad Money. Interestingly enough, T-Mobile didn’t show up, leaving us with only three.

If this were a boxing match, then I would have to say that Dan Hesse, CEO at Sprint, won by hitting both AT&T and Verizon right where it hurt.

Early on, Cramer mentioned that he was a Verizon customer to which, Verizon’s Dan Mead responded with thanks. Later, Cramer complained that he couldn’t get consistent downloads. Unprompted, Hesse responded with a left hand jab of a comment of “well, you do have Verizon wireless, don’t you…” and it didn’t stop there… AT&T’s Ralph de la Vega shared with us that the T-Mobile purchase would give AT&T a 4G network… Hesse was fast again and responded with an uppercut comment of “I thought you already had a 4G network.”

It was entertaining to say the least. But as we walked away, we were struck with the thought that maybe Hesse only won the battle and not the war. After all, Verizon’s Dan Mead made it clear that they were not interested in Sprint.
