Coffee apps – to perk up a mobile worker’s day

Today’s NYTimes.com article, For Coffee Fans, a Collection of Virtual Treasure Maps, talks about the emergence of apps to help you find the closest cup of coffee, but most people rely on Google Search or Yelp.
“Smaller developers are building indexes of cafes, and a few are off to a promising start, including ones from Blue Crow Media.”
Whether or not you are a Starbuck’s fan (which is an iPass-enabled hotspot), “it is far ahead of any other national food retailer in the sophistication of its mobile app. It has free Android and Apple apps. To experience its full utility, open a Starbucks card account and link it to the app. The process takes about five minutes. As a reward for doing so, Starbucks will buy you a cup of coffee on your birthday, which is cute, but it will also let you pay with your phone, which is just cool.”
Of course, iPass users can use our Hotspot Finder to easily find the closest cappuccino.
