More hotspots for internet-savvy South Korea

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

South Korea is one of the most connected nations in the world using their smartphones to browse the Web while on the move.

In this country, everyone over the age of 10 has a smartphone and 60% of people using mobile devices access the Internet on their handset at least five times a day. South Koreans are also looking for innovative ways to leverage Wi-Fi, even for the chore of grocery shopping.

With that, we are happy to announce 51,000 more Wi-Fi hotspots, through SK Telecom, to get you to the internet while in South Korea.

Our iPass customers can get connected to the Internet from their mobile devices from major airports, including Incheon, Pusan and Kimpo, hotels, such as Walker Hill (Starwood), Shilla and Lotte hotels, and the Grand Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul, along with convention centers, restaurants and office locations.

Summer in San Francisco – Wi-Fi map for mobile workers

Monday, July 18th, 2011

It’s summer in San Francisco and the streets are bustling.

For mobile workers, here on business (or not), we have a Top Ten Wi-Fi Hotspots in San Francisco list for you.

Some of our featured hotspots include:

  • Omni San Francisco Hotel: a luxury hotel in the heart of downtown San Francisco with Florentine Renaissance architecture.
  • Cafe deStijl: a cafe named after the 1917 Dutch art movement, with wonderful food and coffee, as you sit looking out at the bay
  • Five Embarcadero Center: part of one of the largest mixed-use complexes in the Western US with three interconnected shopping levels within four towers.

Hotspots near the Moscone Center, getting you away from the crowds and into the fresh air, include multiple Starbucks, a Specialty’s Cafe on New Montgomery, and Swig Bar, a contemporary, 2-level establishment for the “hip and the happening.”

San Francisco can now boast in having the most sustainable airport, with the recent update of Terminal 2, using 90% recycled materials from the original structure. This is the terminal for Virgin Airlines and American Airlines, which both offer inflight Wi-Fi, free to iPass users.

You can find dozens of websites with their lists of things to see, but here are a few hidden gems that we collected for you:

  • Greenwich Steps: Stay in shape after that business meal on some of the finest steps in the city. They are located on the eastern side of Telegraph Hill, between Levi’s Plaza and Coit Tower. Take the Filbert Steps down!
  • Francis Scott Key Monument: The first in the US, the monument dedicated to the author of “The Star-Spangled Banner” is in Golden Gate Park. It is located on the eastern edge of “Music Concourse” between de Young Museum and California Academy of Sciences.
  • Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory: Tucked in on Ross Alley, this factory has been supplying fortune cookies to Chinatown and around the world since 1962. Take the tour; try the chocolate.
  • Walk the crookedest street in SF (not Lombard!): Drive south on Vermont Street from McKinley Park. Also make sure to catch some City views.

Don’t forget that you can find and review our over 500K iPass hotspots, using our Hotspot Finder on your laptop or your smartphone.

And for any first time visitors, trust me on this: bring a jacket or you will be going home with a new San Francisco sweatshirt.
