As we just released this quarter’s Mobile Workforce Report showing the increased number of tablet owners, Computerworld UK had the article, 7 tips for establishing a successful BYOD policy.
As noted in our report, users find that different devices are preferred for different activities. Mobile employees feel more productive on their own devices, although they must understand the policies regarding apps, access and security.
Some of the 7 Steps include:
- Make it clear who owns what apps and data
- Define a clear service policy for devices under BYOD criteria
- Set up an employee exit strategy
Two recommendations from our Mobile Workforce Report:
- Encourage a BYOD policy. Mobile employees work more hours and are inclined to use their own devices. IT can take steps to offer a formalized BYOD policy, which may put more workers into the category of mobile employees with various IT-sponsored choices.
- Provide your employees with the right resources to do their jobs and the necessary support to overcome obstacles to accomplishing their work.
