Traveling to Luxembourg? You can now enjoy a city-wide, mesh Wi-Fi footprint, plus indoor coverage at major locations.
Luxembourg City, perhaps best known for its banks, 1,000-year-old fortress walls, and magnificent Grand Ducal Palace, has a new claim to fame: Europe’s most advanced municipal Wi-Fi network of more than 300 access points.
Called HotCity, this city-wide mesh Wi-Fi network is an initiative of the City of Luxembourg to build Europe’s most advanced municipal Wi-Fi network and provides seamless coverage across the city’s 50 square kilometers area. It is now a part of the iPass Mobile Network, greatly expanding our European Wi-Fi footprint and providing iPass users with a comforting blanket of seamless wireless coverage to keep connected while away from the office, even while outdoors. Enterprise mobility is easy while you take in the sights.
Aside from the outdoor Wi-Fi and some major hotels, also included in the iPass footprint are Luxembourg’s major travel ports—the main railway station and the Luxembourg International airport. Combined with iPass’ existing hotspots in and around the City, the mostly outdoor HotCity network means you’ll be hard-pressed not to find iPass coverage wherever work or play takes you. And there’s plenty of both in Luxembourg City to keep you busy.
The HotCity initiative is an incredibly ambitious and exciting project as it really reinforces the important role of municipal Wi-Fi connectivity in creating more closely connected business and social communities. The iPass Mobile Network service is already the world’s largest, now with over 140,000 hotspots.
