Where in the world is your employee connected?

We just published our quarterly Mobile Workforce Report and some of the iPass usage data was interesting in terms of enterprise mobility. Looking back at older data, users were logging in at airports 40% of the time, but as of this report, airports dropped to 27%, with hotels being the highest access type at 43%.
The airport data gives a perspective on the locations of mobile employees. The Top 20 is a worldwide view, with the Top 10 still showing a 50:50 mix of US vs. European cities for our iPass users. However, in Q409, Frankfurt and London moved near the top of the list.
Here’s the Top 20 list, to give you an idea of where your employees have been connecting in Q409:
- O’Hare
- Frankfurt
- Charles de Gaulle
- Dallas-Fort Worth
- Minneapolis-St. Paul
- San Francisco
- Schiphol (Amsterdam)
- Hartsfield (Atlanta)
- Heathrow (London)
- Munich
- Zurich
- Brussels
- Los Angeles
- Detroit Metro
- Houston Intercontinental
These top 20 airports represented 56% of the total airport access.
What else did we see? Although employees were most often logging in from hotels, they spent the longest sessions at convention centers. They logged an average of 107.4 minutes per session! As we continue to hear, the easier to connect, the easier it is for employees to get things done.
