Get access to the world’s largest mobile access network

Monday, March 29th, 2010

iPass offers iPass Mobile Network, giving your users access to the world’s largest mobile access network, with a single, secure login, at more than 500 airports and 30,000 hotels. You also get a single “point of trust” and single bill. Users can connect through various connection methods on a wide variety of devices – nice when traveling country to country. You don’t have to worry about how and where they will access the internet (and your VPN) while on the road.

In this video, I quickly walk you through the service and some of the benefits.

You can see more about deploying the network from my iPass Open Mobile Platform demo in the Video Center.

I’ve now overviewed all of the iPass services. Are there other features or topics that you want more information on? Let us know by commenting below.

Thanks!

Simple, smart connections with Mobile Connect

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Here’s a quick two minute overview of our iPass Mobile Connect service. The idea of “Master Connection Management” acts as the single control point for connectivity. Mobile Connect will control costs and risks, provide users with simple universal connectivity with a lightweight client and perform Smart Network Selection. And…it’s faster.

For more info, see the Mobile Connect Services Brief.

Analyze and control enterprise mobility costs

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Photo-David-GutierrezThis week, I have a new demo for you. Last week, I talked about Mobile Control. Another mobility service, Mobile Insight, provides real-time intelligence to optimize the quality, security, and costs of your mobile internet activity using the iPass Open Mobile Platform. The reporting engine gives you the ability to design your own reports and dashboards or download to a business intelligence system for analysis. You can slice-and-dice the data so that you can monitor mobile usage, compliance by groups or users, track deployments and look for areas in which you are paying for services that are not being used.

It’s a valuable way to figure out what’s driving your costs and where you might be able to save money. Take two minutes and see the demo.

Take a quick tour of Mobile Control – to control spending and security

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

DGHere’s another tour of one of our iPass Open Mobile services, Mobile Control. I have done a series of these video tours to give you an idea of what’s involved in enterprise mobility and how easy a cloud-based, self-service solution can be. In fact, I had to do the demo on a colleagues laptop, which didn’t matter, since this is an internet-based platform.

See my demo >>

You have employees traveling to lots of countries (or at a client, or at home, or at their local coffeeshop…). They carry a variety of laptops, netbooks and smartphones. They forget about roaming charges. They forget that they really should be on the VPN at times. Mobile Control takes the worry about security and costs out of your mobility management.

Mobile Control gives you a single point of control to enforce security measures and control spending. IT managers can set up connectivity and device-oriented policies, to control internet and corporate access.  For example, you can restrict an application from running at certain times, like on an external connection.

I will have new video tours in the coming weeks. If there are certain features or capabilities that you want to learn more about – let me know via the comments below. It would be fun to dive into some additional details.

If you want more information on Mobile Control, we have a Solution Brief for all the services.

To get a quick tour of the iPass Open Mobile Platform, via the self-service Portal, see my previously posted demo.

Tour the iPass Open Mobile Portal – control is in your hands

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Photo-David-GutierrezTake a few minutes and see how our iPass Open Mobile Portal gives control and visibility into your mobility management. In this video, I give you a quick overview of the interface and how you can build, test and deploy your own user profiles, based on your business.

Go to the demo >>

To give you an overview, the iPass Open Mobile Platform is a cloud-based service that powers iPass Enterprise Mobility services (more video tours coming soon!) and gives your company an amazing choice in devices, networks and services to support your enterprise mobility needs. You can mix and match, helping you keep up with the pace of innovation (what’s coming out next!?) without an investment in infrastructure or risk of technology or carrier lock-in.

The iPass Open Mobile Platform comprises three primary components:

  • iPass Open Mobile Client is always-on lightweight software that runs on the mobile device. It orchestrates policy-based Internet and corporate access, collects and transmits data from the device to iPass systems, and interfaces with other client software as needed.
  • iPass Open Mobile Portal is a Web-based management interface that provides control without complexity. It gives IT staff visibility, control and a high degree of automation in managing the full lifecycle of all iPass services.
  • iPass Service Fabric is the highly available, secure and scalable cloud-based infrastructure designed to deliver iPass service functions, from network authentication to software distribution, configuration updates and service maintenance.

Next week, I will begin posting some video tours of our various services. If you are interested in finding out more about the Open Mobile Platform, you can:
