Another day, another marathon…Boston, here I come

As your blog editor, I was encouraged by my colleagues to share my weekend. Yesterday, I ran and completed the Los Angeles Marathon. I have run dozens of marathons, including LA, Boston, NY, Chicago and Paris, but have been plagued by injuries for the last couple of years, limping through my last couple. So yesterday was a personal triumph in running a strong marathon and re-qualifying for Boston.

However, the highlight was that my father also finished another marathon. He got us started in this years ago, and he continues. Also, since he walks a lot of the race, he’s out there for many more hours than I am. He’s quite the inspiration.

It was a great reminder, as I watched the last part of the marathon, how many people run marathons for different reasons. And that personal triumph is different for each person.
