Thirty-one percent of mobile consumers in the U.S. now own a smartphone, according to a the Nielson Company’s December 2010 U.S. smartphone market survey released Tuesday.
At this point, RIM, iOS and Android are in a 3-way tie, but Nielsen predicts that Android will pull ahead in the US, as it has worldwide. However, as we’ve seen, it’s constantly changing, particularly with the recent move of the iPhone to Verizon.
Tim Siglin, on StreamingMedia.com, pursued another thought in the article: “Android On the Rise, Apple iOS Steady; Whither Symbian?”
Maybe it’s not really news as the front-runners seem to continually shift position depending on the latest release by a vendor. It was almost more interesting, searching on “Nielsen Android Apple” and seeing the similarity of article titles dating from August, December, January and also February.
