All about Android – Exhibits at MWC

Now off to Hall 8 to look at the exhibits. Stop by the Verizon stand to soak up the LTE handsets; they are blazingly fast!! This year it’s tablets – continuing the theme of CES. Guess what?! They are all thronged with about 200 people per tablet. Oh well, I hunt safer prey and find an old colleague, and explain iPass to him.
Then, to the Android section where Google tries to create its legendary office environment; it looks so odd when occupied by dark suited business types. Lots of freebies!!! Mainly Android pins – there are 96 to collect with a different one on each exhibitor’s stand, and more to come during the week. I collected the standard one and skate boaring ‘droid.
Some of the apps are really creative from music, to navigation, to games that use the full abilities of a phone – there are lots of smart and creative people out there. Ericsson has their new PSP phone out, no one is even interested – the booth is empty. So I played with the new XOOM (3.0), Samsung 10″, Samsung 7″ and LG 3D phone. Now Android’ed out, I move off to eat – a HUGE line for a very meager ham baguette.
Back into the rain, for a meeting with a card vendor. Then, back to Hall 8 and it is now clearing out so I get to play with the Playbook and HP WebOS tablets and all the ones I could not get near before. If you are a techno geek or gadget freak, then this would be like ALL your Christmases arriving on one day. I am pleased that none were available for purchase – although I may go back with a credit card on Thursday. Surely, they don’t want to take them all back home.
