William (Bill) Garvey, Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Bill Garvey is vice president and general counsel for iPass. He leads the company’s legal team, which is responsible for the company’s legal operations, including all commercial contract negotiations, SEC and other regulatory compliance activities, litigation management, corporate governance programs and intellectual property portfolio. He also serves as the company’s corporate secretary and its chief compliance officer.

Since becoming general counsel in 2009, Garvey has overseen the legal review of significant contract negotiations around the world with large corporations and telecommunications carriers, compliance with the Dodd-Frank Act and other regulatory requirements and the establishment of a number of corporate governance initiatives. He plays a key role in driving corporate strategy, setting policies and developing standards and practices across the company.

Before joining iPass, Garvey was general counsel at a number of technology companies, including ShoreTel, Inc. a manufacturer of VOIP business communication systems, Rackable Systems, Inc. (now known as Silicon Graphics) a computer server manufacturer and Actuate Corporation, an enterprise reporting and business intelligence software company. He has led companies through initial public offerings, secondary offerings, acquisitions and patent litigation.

Garvey holds a Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School, a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy and is a member of the California Bar Association.
